Catrice Glam & Doll Mascara | Review

There's a new kid on the block! The Catrice Glam & Doll mascaras have been showing up left right and center as the new drugstore ‘it’ product. Personally, my very first mascara was from Catrice. So, I felt quite nostalgic when seeing this old friend popping up in my Bloglovin’ feed. Let’s see how their new Glam & Doll mascara range is doing!

The range consists of four mascaras: the original Glam & Doll Volume Mascara in black and waterproof, Curl & Volume and the newest member False Lashes. I will be reviewing Glam & Doll Volume Waterproof and the newbie Glam & Doll False Lashes.

L: Glam & Doll Waterproof - R: Glam & Doll False Lashes
The Glam & Doll original in Waterproof is actually a repurchase. So it’s safe to say I like this one. The product itself is super long lasting, does not budge when walking through the rain and doesn’t crumble. Even though the staying power is amazing, the mascara doesn’t feel harsh on the eyes. It’s also easy to take off without losing lashes. Although you do have to use a waterproof makeup remover.

The wands of both of these mascaras are interesting. The original wand is kind of shaped like a Christmas tree, wide at the bottom with small bristles at the top. The longer bristles at the bottom create a beautiful winged out look. This is great when that is what you are going for. But when you want to create length on you middle and inner corner lashes as well, it can become quite messy. The bristles are quite hard and plastic-y, which is a pro because it enables you to really get to the roots of the lashes and comb them through without clumps forming.

The Glam & Doll False Lashes is the latest addition of the range. It is not waterproof and that is exactly why I choose this one. It’s raining less and non-waterproof mascaras are a lot gentler usually. Sadly, that’s not necessarily the case with this one. I love the mascara for the first – about – eight hours. So it’s good to wear to school or work. But by the time you get home, the mascara starts to crumble. This is especially annoying when wearing contacts. The product crumbles into your eyes and it only becomes worse when you’re trying to fix it with your fingers. The only thing left to do when that happens is take it off. Luckily, because it’s non-waterproof, that is quite easy to do.

However, the wand of the Flashes is great! It has small bristles on one side and longer ones in an arch on the other side. The short bristles, because of the way they are shaped in a slight bow just like your lash line, are super handy to get to the roots of your lashes and coat them without getting the product on the eye lid. Then, the longer bristles are great to build up the mascara and really get that volume and length going.

Verdict

The product of the Glam & Doll Waterproof is perfect. It’s long lasting and buildable, yet it’s not harsh on the eyes at all. The wand of the Glam & Doll False Lashes, however, is a lot more versatile and easy to use.
